I owned several brand new Chevys and NONE of them came close to the reliability of my 08 Camry. ALL of the Chevys I had ever owned were in need of major service before 30k. I regularly commute from Upstate NY and this car never gave me any trouble. I follow the owners manual and service it myself. Synth. oil from day 1. I will not let those butchers at the dealership touch this car. Aside from the normal wear and tear items it is the most reliable car I have ever owned. I never had a car that had factory brakes last 100k! The only major component replaced was the water pump. I drive this car HARD and make regular trips to .FLA and NC 2 to 3 times a year with it. Toyota got it right this time

The transmission is quick to kick down to a lower gear and hold the rpms high when I need it to.
When I'm driving easy it drives easy as well and gives me soft buttery shifts at low rpm.
It also has an engine braking feature that automatically downshifts if it senses I am dragging the brakes on a long grade. You couldn't ask for a better automatic.

Handling is soft which I prefer, but it also has great feel at the limit, if a turn is taken too fast it behaves predictably and its easy to regain control.

I love the interior, it's minimalist by design, very classy.
Too bad other's deride it for lacking more chrome rings and ugly doodads.

I've had my Camry for 6 years now.
It has never broken down, and I've never had any problems.
I feel safe in the car and its got quite a lot of pick up.

The build quality is great - it still runs really well after 6 years and I'm very happy with it!

I'm starting to look for my next car, and knowing how reliable my Camry is, I'm definitely considering another Toyota.

Well it's bound to happen that when a company makes thousands of a product, there will be a bad egg in there somewhere. Unfortunately, we bought the bad egg. Camry was purchased brand new and at 24,000 miles we started having problems with the car nearly quiting on us as we were driving it. Engine light came on & we've had it at a local Toyota dealership if not every week but every few months since (we now have over 60,000 miles). The car has had the computer reset, a coil replaced, last Friday April 29, a spark plug was replaced after the Toyota engineers reviewed the codes because the mechanics couldn't figure it out. Well, sorry to say, the car is back in the shop today-still not fixed!

I spent a tremendous amount of time researching and comparing vehicles before purchasing my 2007 Toyota Camry 4dr.
I bought it new.
The viser immediately was broken and I have been to the dealership for recalls several times.
The brakes have been squeaking for at least a year every time I back up and so far the three places I took it to cannot fix them.
The car also squeals when turning corners and this is after new tires.
The biggest hazard is the inability to see out of the back widow.
The rear end is too high and impossible to see out of the back.
This was my first and last Toyota.

Is anyone aware of any recalls for the dash melting?
Its really annoying, and for $15k (I just bought it 3 months ago). I dont think I should have a melting dashboard in a car that is only 5 years old

I own a 2007 V6 Camry XLE purchased new from a dealer in New Jersey. The vehicle currently has 87,000 + miles and it has been completely trouble free. The only warranty service that I had done to the vehicle under the extended warranty was the oil line for the VVT. (This was done prior to it leaking when I read about the possibility of it failing on the "net!") The vehicle is only serviced by the selling dealer and I change the engine oil and filter at 2,500 miles. (My choice!) ---- (I DO NOT believe in extended oil / filter change intervals!)
I do not have any "sludge" in my engine. At every fuel "fill up" I use an upper cylinder lubricant. (Four ounces to every ten gallons.)

First and last time to buy Toyota brand. I have a 2008 Camry LE bought almost brand new. Since I got it I had few repairs I did not expect.
First the U joint for the Steering wheel column right at 50K miles after the warranty expired. Few thousand miles later the left front Spring broken and paid another 900 $ to replace the spring and strut. Not to mention the engine starting to burn oil already at 50K miles too. I had a windstar few years back and had a spring broken and because Ford is having a concern for their customer's Safety they did have a
recall on this problem. Toyota should not be even operating in NA when they do not care about those issues that could put drivers at risk

Hi, I bought my camry new from the dealership. The only problem I had its that at 70k miles started burning oil a lot, I brough the car to service dep and they told me that is a had gusket, and they fixed cause was under warranty, but the car still burned oil as much as the beginning. I brough back to Toyota and they were saying that the car is to old that's y is burning this much oil. I stop dealing with Toyota service dep. My camry now has 190k still runs good, it doesn't have the same pick up as it used to but still runs good. At 7 years I have changed tires twice, 2 batteries, struts once, a radiator, a lot of adding oil, and oil changes every 5k miles. my new car would be a camry again

Like many other posters, I bought the Camry based on their reputation but it has been a HUGE dissappointment.

Multiple recalls, extended parts warranties, snap-on visors and floor mats falling apart, new struts at 25000, a hard shifting transmission and now I find out about the sludge-prone motor, just to name a few.

The most frustrating aspect is that Toyota refuses to be accountable for their mistakes unless forced to, then they still claim 'driver fault' on issues like brakes, sludge and visors.

The Service Director at Pat Lobb's Toyota in McKinney even brought up "lemon" in our conversation.
But then decided it couldn't be since it made it to 128000 miles.
hmm...Very Low Standards!

Yesterday I noticed the Service Engine light on and today when I headed out to take it to Honda it was not on. Other than that no problems and this car is absolutly great. Good acceleration, excellent commut car. Very quiet. I am hesitating to buy a V6 since the gas price. But the camry really surprise me. So far did not see anything wrong with it.

First off, I have been in sales for 25 years. Many of those years were company supplied vehicles. Ford Taurus', Explorer. Have also owned Dodge Pickup, etc. All typical American vehicles.
This Camry is just so much more refined than all those vehicles. Despite it being a 4 cylinder, the vehicle is plenty fast, and can pass at will (unless someone is doing 90 mph, then I wont pass them).Interior is great, I get a lot of compliments believe it or not, with SE the Ice Blue color. I have had zero maintenance problems. NADA ! Just change oil. At 46,000 miles now, and love every minute of it. The engine is bulletproof, and the ride is very comfortable. I'll likely keep it until 250,000 miles.

Bought this car in 2011 for my wife.
It's a red Camry SE Sport edition with the 4 cylinder.
Overall it's a good little car.
We typically get 25mpg+ city driving.
We bought it with 99k miles on it and it currently has 128k on it now.
The only mechanical issue we've ever had was the left front wheel bearing failing and it cost less than $100 to repair at the dealership.
The interior finish is a little disappointing, as the silver painted trim wears easily so we can see black plastic through some areas but overall held up well and it's comfortable to drive and extremely reliable.
The 4 cylinders idle rough which we don't like, but confirmed this is normal on these cars and it runs fine.

I purchased 2007 Camry LE V6 new and enjoyed driving all these years.I put up 73,000 Miles and never had issues other than the normal wear and tear. The best part is the V6 Engine which is quick to accelerate and smooth. My car still rides like new.in one long trip i got 34mpg.Now a days its averaging 24 mgp/hwy.The interior looks good but not great.if you look closely the interior has gaps in the edges and finish is not good.
The one think i dont like is the steering. Its bigger..
The seats are getting uncomfortable in the long drives. The cabin is quiet and the car rides smooth.

I bought a 2009 Toyota Camry in November 2011 as a replacement for a 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer with 126,000 miles & we had for 6 years. At first, we liked the Camry. Took the car on at least one long distance monthly trip. Every month for a year. But even before we made it to 7 months, we were looking for a SUV platform vehicle to replace the Camry.
The Camry is what it is. Solid transportation. It just wasn't our cup of tea.
If your considering a Camry to purchase, steer more towards the SE or the XLE versions. You will be happier.

We bought this car based on Toyota's reputation for high quality/value, but were ultimately disappointed. Compared to the previous-generation (2001-06) Camry, the interior of the 2007 - while great LOOKING - is very cheap.
Lots of hard, creaky plastics, thin seat material, and very cheap-feeling HVAC controls & some other switchgear. Both sun visors broke internally and would just hang down & had to be replaced (with same poor design).
The struts had a reputation for failing early (ours were shot & leaking by 30K miles).
Worst of all, the engine began using oil excessively by about 70K miles - which I discovered was common for this (2.4L) engine in all of the vehicles it was used.

Bought the car brand new (3 miles on it). Currently I have 130,000 miles on it and I've had zero issues. I drive mostly highway, very little stop and go. Out of boredom I changed the spark plugs and the PCV Valve at around 80,000 miles. Been changing my own oil since the 50,000 mile mark. The only issue is the oil consumption. From the 50,000 mile mark to now the car would consume 2 quarts out of the 4.5 i put in over 5000 miles. On the most recent oil change I only got back 1.5 quarts of the 5 quarts I put in .(added 1/2 quart at around 3000 miles). Seems like the car has turned a corner

I would never purchase this car again.
The number of (and cost of) repairs I've had to do is ridiculous!
While under warranty, the following things were repaired/replaced:
seal around the sunroof, seal around the windshield, & cd player.
Two weeks ago, my water pump went out and had to be changed, along with the rotors.
Now my air conditioning is broken, and the Toyota dealership is telling me that it will cost me $2,900 to repair it.
In a three week time period, I will have to invest $3,700 into a car that is 3 years old and has 70,000 miles.
I bought a Toyota thinking I would get a good car for the money I spent.
I was absolutely wrong!
I will not purchase another Toyota!

I bought a used 2008 Camry last October. I REALLY like this car, the Toyota Camry was something that I've always wanted. Someone in the latest review had mentioned they had to get their water pump replaced, I had to do the same. Fortunately they caught it when I got my oil changed, because my coolant reservoir tank was empty - good thing I have a warranty....

Then, the last few weeks I was hearing this really loud scraping noise - at first I hought it was my breaks, but turns out I need a center exhaust pipe.... won't know if that gets covered under the warranty until tomorrow...that's another story, wish I had enough space to tell you about the poor customer service I experienced.

I bought a Toyota Certified 2007 Camry LE in 2010.
I wanted economy in a more roomy package, and reliability.
I took advantage of the controversy with all the recalls that year and got my car for a couple thousand less than it would have otherwise sold for without it.
I also bought the extended warranty for peace of mind, and I get the oil changed and general service every 5K.
So far, the car has been a champ.
It may be a bit on the "vanilla" side from a performance and styling standpoint, but it's lived up to the Toyota reputation for quality.
The only problem I've encountered are occasional hiccups with the Bluetooth, but not frequent enough to require service.

We bought 2009 Camry Se about 8 months ago in Autumn and i have to say in the beginning it was a little iffy. The first thing we noticed is rattles in the dash panel, which Toyota told us would cost 900$ to fix. (p.s. i
fixed most of the rattles for 10$ by applying a thin strip of spongy material under the dashboard clock). Another thing that was little strange is the whining noise coming from the engine on low rpms, but after asking around i was told its the way engine works and no problems after 10 k km. Other than that it is a gorgeous car,
this is my first vehicle and its my baby. One thing to note is if buying, ask if the car has wind kit and nv008-07 upgrade.

Overall this has been an exceptional car for the money.
Average around 25 mpg.
It is the base model so it lacks some of the more refined features.
With that said there are some annoyances.
The slight steering shutter at highway speeds.
You press the accelerator but there is a short delay then the car takes off.
Uses around a 1/2 qt of oil between changes (5000 miles with Mobil 1). Blind spots.
Base model is a little noisy at highway speeds.
Original tires were awful.
New Goodyear?s are much better.

My 2008 Camry uses 1/4 to 1/2 quart of oil per month.
Toyota is aware of this widespread problem but has not issued a recall or set up a customer support program.
Had this started during the first 5 years, there was a TBS (or something like that), but mine didn't start until around 60,000 miles last year, which seems to be the mileage at which this problem starts.
I bought this car new - it had 6 miles on it, and all oil changes have been done.
If the rings and pistons need to be replaced, which is the one solution the dealer came up with, the cost will be $3800.
