I love my new Nissan Sentra special edition. I bought this over the Altima because of the navigation.. Bad mistake, the stereo sucks and NEVER get reception. I can't depend on the FM to receive any service if I am 10 minutes out of the City. I am now looking at replacing it and it is going to cost me 1500.00 to get a stereo with navigation.
Wish I would have bought the Chrysler 200 with streaming video and a great sound system.

Bought my Nissan Sentra Dec of 2012. A week later i took it back cause the rubber seal around the front window came off. Took it to go looked at cause i can never get my music to bluetooth. took it back again cause while driving it, it felt like it was going to bog out and die. (Friend drove my car and freaked out) they couldn't re create it! took it back again for a sensor re call in the passenger seat that linked to the air bags not deploying!! Got that fixed. Then took it back, cause i was driving it home and the car lost all power and would not go past 2000 RPM.(Couldnt find anything wrong) Ran out of space for everythingOverall I dont like the car. Gonna get me something else here soon.

I only heard one or two reviewers mention this car was a good value.
The cars CVT takes some getting used to because it accelerates in a linear manner but overall this is a very well built car.
I have owned Scion and Honda's and this car's power is just as good as a Honda and much better than a Scion.
I have also owned a Kia and have had friends who own Hyundai. They are good cars until you get into a collision in them.
Then they will sit in the auto body shop for at least a month while you wait for replacement parts to come from Korea.
I bought a SR Special Edition Model for under 16.5K.
There are none of the competitors than can match the options and accessories for this Price!

I think I got a bad one

I loved the car when I first got it on 1/31/2012. It did perfect at first, did the "clunk" at 25 - 30 mph and was told it was normal for the car.
But it wasnt long before I started to notice little things and some big that were going wrong and I babied this car.
About 5 months into ownership the window regulator failed and had to be replaced. A month or so later I started to notice a lot of clunking when I would back up, not cv joint type noise, but more like a series of little clunks. The driver side door and hood seemed to be poorly aligned as the door scraped the paint off the running board and the hood had a major gap on one side. The last straw was the failure of the A/C. I traded it.

Quality control is all over the place with Nissan; no consistency with different loaners I was given to fix other issues.

My previous car was an 03 Xterra and had it for ten years. Nissans quality of cars have never been less than excellent for our family. With my commute that went from 24 to 80 miles a day, I wanted something smaller and better on gas. After a trip to Puerto Rico this past summer, we rented a sentra and that's when I fell in love. I've put only 100 miles on my new SR but absolutely love the ride and comfort!

This is the 3rd Sentra I have owned and by far my favorite! I had a 2002, 2008 & now 2013 and never had a problem with any of them until now. On my first drive in the 2013 the car turned off while I was driving. No lights nothing, just off. It turned right back on and I took it in and Nissan was great! 2 transmission updates and I was on the road again. I just hit 30,000 miles and coasted into the dealership. I need a new transmission. I don't know how long they are going to have my car but I miss it already.

My gf and I bought this car for her. She had originally bought a 2011 Corolla (mother of god that was an awful hateful machine) but someone totalled it (thankfully). So instead we got this. It was inexpensive (17.5K loaded) and didn't look as appliance-y as say a civic or corolla.

Its nothing great but it does it job, its relatively reliable, has a good resale value, looks pretty good and has an insane amount of space. Just don't be fooled by those 27/34mpg numbers because you are getting far less.

Verdict: The car does its job. I'd say because of the high resale value you are better off just buying a new Sentra if you find yourself wanting one though.

Purchased a 2011 Nissan Sentra 2.0S with only 1500 miles on it. In three weeks I'm now at 2860 miles and have a good idea what to expect from this car. The ride is VERY smooth. The Sentra's 2.0L engine/CVT combination delivers more than enough power for everyday driving. The cabin is spacious upfront but tight in the back, and well isolated from engine/road noise. Steering is on the stiff side at low speeds. Brake pedal is very responsive. Barely any body roll in any situation. The CVT is surprisingly responsive and smooth, but is very sensitive to throttle. I've been averaging 32.5 mpg overall in Winter driving conditions (Northern Canada.)

This is my first brand new car so maybe I am biased but we like our 2014 Sentra. I bought the car April 29 2014 and have driven nearly 2500 miles in a month. Not much road noise, it gets up to speed and cruises just fine, great MPG and I find it comfortable. I have read people complain about the car being underpowered but if you test drove it before buying it, you knew what you were getting. Driving around 100 miles round trip per day all highway and its great.

Have only 16600 Miles. The Car already has a recall for stalling problems. Looks the Dealer just raised the accelerator level since the engine makes high level transmission noise while coming down slopes. Now the ABS and traction lights has come up. Upon Dealer inspection they found the ABS connector wire is cut off. Its a skinny ABS cable which is not properly covered from end to end with some thick plastic/tape and can get cut/damage easily from any object on the road while Driving and hanging like a Cradle.
Nissan should understand that ABS is a major part of the braking system and Nissan Customer Service is not helpful. They should recall the Cars for replacement of ABS connector.

I purchased this car about 3 months ago. When I test drove it I didn't notice anything unusual. But after about a week of driving I noticed the car starts to "shudder" when slowing down to a stop or creeping in traffic. Every day, every time. It will keep it up until you either stop or accelerate. The CVT operates at two levels for 2014, basically Low and Drive. It's not dropping out of Drive to Low, causing terrible shuddering in the CVT. Nissan calls it "Juttering." So it's a known issue! I've been to the dealer 3X. Nissan Corporate Consumer and Regional Techs have been involved and say it's "normal." Really? That's BS, inexcusable and very poor engineering. This CVT is a disaster! AVOID

I just recently purchased the 2012 Nissan Sentra SR Special Edition and I love it!
It is so quiet and the gas mileage is incredible.
Plus, for a small car it is actually pretty roomy.
I was very impressed with the price, especially since this package comes with bluetooth phone, GPS navigation, moonroof and XM radio (only for 3 months...then you can either subscribe or cancel).
I must admit that I had to get used to the CVT since my previous cars did not have that.
But all in all, this is a great car!

This is a nice car.
I've been reading the other reviews about the brakes, and I found out, almost accidently, that the rear brakes were recalled.
They were fixed in less than an hour.
The brake pedal does travel a bit more than normal, but we got used to it

Generally, it's a nice car and gets very good gas milage.
I average about 32 mpg, and that's a combination of city and highway mileage.

The car is very roomy inside.
5 adults fit very comfortably, and the ride is smooth and not too noisy

I recently purchased a 2014 Sentra an it has been a pleasure to drive! The interior is stylish and spacious and I like the trunk space. As for the acceleration, I think it is quite good (better) when compared to other similar vehicles I test drove (e.g. Corolla, civic). The sport mode really helps in the acceleration and it actually surprised me after driving other comparable cars. Also, I get a lot of complements on the new exterior look and sighs of envy from others when they see the MPGs. The CVT has been great and I have had no issues with it. It runs great on the highway and in town. This is my third new car and I am very happy with my purchase.

Purchased this car about a month ago. Had only driven 200 kilometers when I noticed a loud noise and vibration from the transmission. Turns out it needed a new torque converter. Replaced by the dealer however I still notice the vibrations others have mentioned (juddering stuttering) especially in normal mode when driving at 20 to 80 kilometers an hour. Most annoying as is the constant buzz at any speed. I only drive in sport mode now as it reduces the vibrations due to the engine revving higher. The problem is that the car is underpowered. They should have left the 2.0L My 2008 Sentra has no vibrations whatsoever at any speed with the 2.0L. Piece of junk - avoid buying this car!!!

Just bought base 6 speed Sentra.
Got great deal, paid about $16,000.
comfortable, quiet, solid, good ride quality.
Drove both CVT and stick, didn't like the disconnected feel of CVT, have always preferred manuals.
Just wish the manual came with more of the upscale goodies on the higher end Sentras.
Have to separately buy a key fob online.
Surprising amount of interior room for size of the car.
Trust Nissan to build quality cars, owned Titan bought in first year of production and never let me down until it was totaled by distracted driver texting, truck saved my family's life.

I have read numerous reviews from the experts about this car and there are not a lot of positive reviews about the Sentra.
Many of the experts have commented on the bland exterior design and I do not agree.
I think the SL with the spoiler; alloy rims; mud guards and tinted windows make this baby pop.
I realize that we all have different opinions but don't let the reviews from the experts divert you from the Sentra.
It's a great looking car.
My family loves it.
Our other car is a VW GTI.
Even my 16 year old son loves this car.
I get compliments on it all the time.
I drove the corolla; the hyundai elantra; the civic; and the focus and the sentra is a better looking car!

After 20 years owning various Hondas, we test drove nearly everything in this class/price range, and nothing even came close.
This has a smoother ride than the Civic, better handling (by far!) than the Corolla, and is roomier than all others.
So roomy, in fact, that the EPA classifies it as a mid-size sedan.
With the larger tires on the SR model it feels as though you're driving a much bigger vehicle, and I've noticed that I'm sitting ABOVE Altima drivers!
The styling is not as frumpy as some reviewers say, it seems to look different from various angles.
From the front it's positively sleek.
Next to it, the new Toyotas and Hondas look dull.
We have no regrets.

Reading these reviews, it seems almost like someone only does a review when there's a problem. I have had my '13 Sentra SR since around the first of January 2014 and have put 21,000 miles on it during that time. That's a lot of miles but I bought it primarily as a commuter car. I can tell you that I have had no problems, it runs and drives just like when new. Gas mileage averaged around 31 when new and started averaging 35 (about 65% highway overall). After owning 9 Nissans I've found they don't start getting their better mileage numbers until about 12-15K on the odometer. I think it would average about 3-4mpgs better if they didn't sell 10% ethanol gas where I live (North Louisiana).

I contacted Nissan North America about a month ago and have been going back and forth with the rudest, most incompetent customer service agents ever. Not only are they impolite and discourteous, but they actually have the nerve to talk down to you like you're some kind of idiot. I recently drove a Sentra and a Corolla back to back, for a week each, and I prefer the Sentra. You ride up higher in the Sentra, and the cabin feels roomier. The CVT has plenty of power to get up to speed and pass on the highway and feels smooth and responsive. The cabin is quiet going around town, but fairly noisy on the highway, and opening the trunk seems awkward. Overall, though, I was impressed.

I bought this car new in early 2012 and now have about 27k miles on it. It's in Super Black with the optional upgrade package. I was looking for a fun, quick compact sedan w/ a manual transmission and some bells and whistles (navigation system, moonroof, etc). The car feels like a go-cart going around turns and I always feel like I am in complete control. Overall, it's a great value for the performance when compared to other similar vehicles and I am very happy so far. I use the vehicle as a daily driver (~20mi highway commute to work) and have driven it across the country twice w/o incident.

I purchased my Sentra SV on 12/30/2014. After reviewing several other compact cars including Chevy, Ford, Toyota and VW as well visiting various websites including Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, IIHS - Insurance Institute for Hwy Safety and the Department of Transportation 1-4 star crash test ratings buying the Sentra was an easy decision.

I watched several videos of both expert and not so expert reviews. Take all reviews with a grain of salt as everyone expects a vehicle priced under $20k to perform like a BMW or Benz. Let's be real about this.

I was going about 50 on a service road and my car acted as if it was going to stale. So I decided to slow down and pull into a parking lot. When I tried to apply the brake I couldn't even push the pedal down. It was as if a brick was under my break. So I turned my car off and coasted into the parking lot. Thank the Lord no one was in my way. I sat there for 15 minutes and turned my car back on. I started to drive around the parking lot and it acted fine. I took to the dealership and they stated they couldn't find anything wrong.

Great car, clean, a little to high of a coefficient of drag. Wife and I hypermill and can get the CVT to get us 30 MPG town and 35-36 MPG Highway (under 75 mph). If you drive like a 16 year old boy in heat, the CVT will keep you in the power band and use up a lot of gas, its true. If you drive smartly, it serves you well. Great handling/excellent lateral g for a car of its class (2.0 S model). Look, standing acceleration from stop (0-60mph) is poor; however, passing acceleration (60-80mph) can't be beat since it has high torque and the CVT revs it to 6500RPM. If you really need to get going, put it in Low until you reach 30mph, it will improve the start 0-60, but not usually recommended.

With ever increasing gas prices, my old Cobalt (29 mpg highway) was getting expensive at the pump. After browsing a bit, I found a base-model 2011 Sentra w/ CVT at my Nissan dealership. Completely void of anything except the basic necessities, an affordable price with very low mileage, I bought it after a test-drive. Like all of you, I have places to go, people to see, and with a 34 mpg highway rating, I would save a bit on gas. *Sigh* The one place I wanted to avoid is now my most popular destination: The Pump. No matter what I do, this car can't get above 27mpg on the highway. I've tried all manners of tests to improve gas mileage, to no avail.

Go to another brand, any other brand!

Have had this car for almost three months and I regret that decision every day. This car is doing the juttering that has been described by other reviewers. The standard line from the dealer is that it is designed to do that. Can't imagine why a manufacturer designed a transmission to vibrate. The icing on the cake is a leaky sunroof. Not talking about leaking in a carwash, this thing leaks whenever it rains. Once again, the dealer says that it is working as designed. The car "quality" is suspect and the service department is a
joke. Avoid this car!

Very pleased

Have about 2200 miles on it.
Have been very impressed with thoughtful design (large trunk, ample rear seat room, large glove box).
Seats are comfortable.
I really like the tight, solid body, with no squeaks or rattles.
Excellent gas mileage (38-39 mpg on highway at 65-70 mph).
No wind noise, and quiet on the highway.
Excellent build quality - doors have a quality "thunk" on closing.
Nice dash lighting.
I enjoy the trip computer, but wish it had a compass.
The CVT transmission takes some getting used to, but it's OK.
Ride is firm (reviewers say "harsh" over bumps, but I don't find it objectionable.
All in all, a quality product I'd recommend.

I'm getting a little scared...

I have a 2013 Sentra SL- At 2837 miles, The car went completely dead- electric system shut down. It was in my garage so no safety issue- Had the car towed. Local dealership said it was an internal failure in the IPDM. After 4 days and replacing this, car ran fine. Nissan paid for a 3 day rental. It happened again last night- approx. 11,000 miles- dead as a doornail. Spent the morning waiting on a tow, setting up a rental car, etc. Waiting to hear from the dealer. Nissan has promised a 3 day rental but COME ON GUYS! I'm a single Mom- no one to help me get to work- no work, no pay!
I thought I was getting a RELIABLE car- AM I GOING TO BE ON THE NIGHTLY NEWS like the GM DRIVERS? I'M SCARED!!

got horrible gas mileage!!!!
